#5

This is the number on my loom in weaving class... I think it will be my loom all semester. I had no idea when I came into class that first day that I would have that loom for the entire semester. I really like my loom and I think I like the number '5'.
In class the teaching assistant calls the looms by number like it's its name. I think #5 sounds like a good name to me. I'll take a picture of #5 someday soon, so you can all see what she looks like...

work from last semester

Before this semester gets busy with its projects, I wanted to show some from last semester that I never posted.

This is a favorite...even though it's a simple project. If I named this piece it would be: Creation, Sin and Salvation

Not much to say about this... They're symbols of imagination, problem solving, creativity and day dreaming.

Internal Variation __________ External Variation

I love what these exercises were called. It makes me think how internal variation makes an impact, but from the outside (in this case the edges) it's still the same shape. We can apply this to our lives and do some of our own internal variation.

Peanut, Peanut Butter, Jelly!

Ok, this is really just about Peanut Butter... I was having a conversation with someone about peanut butter in ice cream and all of the sudden a light bulb came on...
I said, "peanut butter works with everything!"
The reason I decided this was because I have had peanut butter on some pretty random things before, and it tasted good. I have had it on a hamburger at Jungle Jim's http://www.jungle-jims.com/ and on a sandwich of pickles and mayo that I ate during track and cross country season. (I don't think it helps runners any more than other food, I think I ate them then cuz a fellow runner introduced me to it.)
So, I was thinking peanut butter goes with everything... I have now realized it may not be great with everything, but it can't be that bad. Either way, I have decided I will try it on the various food below... And, if you are brave, I will prepare one of these for any of you as well... ;)

Things I will try with peanut butter
an omelet
a hot dog
spaghetti
I'm sure there was more to this list... Please comment and add to it!

Napkin collection...no longer free?

For those of you who didn't know, now you do... I collect printed napkins. I get them from restaurants, airlines, coffee shops and even gas stations. Ever since I started this collection people ask how I display them, so a few years ago I came up with the idea to make a coffee table that I can display them in. I just bought some of the pieces a week ago and set it up. Above is a picture of the progress. I will be getting legs and paint for it soon. I'm very excited about the table, but it is interesting that one of the reasons I really liked my collection was because it was free! Now I've bought something for a free collection...Oh well, I'm really excited about the table and hope it will be a fun conversation piece in my apartment.
